Registering your address in Gdańsk: where to go and what to bring
Quick answer
You register a temporary or permanent address (meldunek) at a Resident Service Point of the Gdańsk City Office. You need your passport, the tenancy agreement, and the property owner's signature on the registration form. The service is free; a certificate costs 17 PLN.

Step by step
- Check that your tenancy agreement gives you the right to live in the flat, or ask the owner to sign the residence registration form.
- Download and fill in the temporary (or permanent) residence registration form.
- Go to a Resident Service Point, for example ul. Partyzantów 74 or ul. Nowe Ogrody 8/12.
- Show the clerk your passport, the tenancy agreement and the owner's proof of title to the property (for example a land register extract or notarial deed).
- The registration is entered into the PESEL system immediately.
Registering your address is an administrative obligation in Poland, but above all it makes life in Gdańsk easier, it lets you obtain the Resident Card (Karta Mieszkańca), enrol a child at the catchment-area school or register with a local clinic.
Important:
If you hold a written tenancy agreement, the property owner does not need to come to the office with you, provided the agreement clearly confirms your right to use the flat for the given period.
