Where to find free legal help outside Mozaika

Quick answer Poland runs a state system of free legal aid — a signed statement that you cannot afford a lawyer is enough, with no proof of income. You book through a national system or by phone at the city office. Separately, the Pomeranian Voivode runs an information point for foreign nationals.

Step by step

  1. Work out what the case is about. Free legal aid points cover civil, family, employment and administrative law. Residence matters are better taken to the Voivode's point.
  2. Book a slot through the national system on gov.pl or by phone at the Gdańsk City Office.
  3. Before the appointment, sign a statement that you cannot meet the cost of paid legal help. No income documents are needed.
  4. Bring every letter you have received in the case. The lawyer usually has an hour, and without documents can only go on your summary.
  5. If the case concerns residence, work or documents, also ask at the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office information point for foreign nationals.

A free consultation at Mozaika is short and practical: we help you understand a letter, fill in a form and see the route. When a case goes to court or needs a representative, you need more than that.

What the free legal aid system does not do

A lawyer at one of these points will advise you and help draft a document, but will not represent you in court. For that you apply separately, at the court handling the case, for a court-appointed representative.

The points also do not cover running a business, only starting one.

Deadlines matter more than anything else

In administrative matters the deadline to appeal is short — usually 14 days from delivery. If you have received a decision you disagree with, book immediately, even if you do not yet have all the documents. The clock runs from the date on the envelope, not from the day the letter was opened.

If you need an interpreter

Free legal aid points are not obliged to provide an interpreter. You may bring someone with you. Write to us in advance if you have nobody to ask.
